Standards of protection for minors

Preamble

In accordance with the law of 13 May 2016 on the prevention of the threat of sexual offences and the protection of minors, and in the spirit of the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, the Peacock Eye and Feather facilities accept for use Standards for the Protection of Minors (SOM).

The aim of the document is to ensure a safe environment for all children, to protect their rights, to prevent abuse and to respond quickly to any danger signals. The standards cover all minors, including children with disabilities and special educational needs.

1. general principles

  1. Every child in the facilities has the right to respect for dignity, safety and privacy.
  2. All staff and colleagues have a duty to respond to any suspected child abuse.
  3. Persons hired to work with children are subject to criminal records checks and make relevant declarations.
  4. All employees familiarise themselves with this document, attend training courses and sign a statement of compliance with the Standards.
  5. The facilities are designated Juvenile Protection Standards Coordinatorwhich is responsible for implementing, monitoring and updating the rules.

3 Protection procedures

  1. Identification of the minor
    • At reception, the identity of the child and their guardian is established.
    • If there are doubts about the carer's relationship with the child, the member of staff has a duty to take clarifying action.
  2. Suspected child abuse by an adult
  1. Reporting immediately to your supervisor and/or the SOM Coordinator,
  2. notifying the police and securing the child,
  3. documenting the event.
  4. Suspected abuse by an employee
  1. immediately separating the child from the suspect,
  2. notification to the SOM Coordinator,
  3. possible immediate suspension of the employee and notification of the relevant services.
  4. Suspected abuse by parent/guardian
  1. employee has a duty to intervene and call for assistance,
  2. Ensuring the child's care and safety until the appropriate services arrive.
