Standards of protection for minors

Preamble
In accordance with the law of 13 May 2016 on the prevention of the threat of sexual offences and the protection of minors, and in the spirit of the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, the Peacock Eye and Feather facilities accept for use Standards for the Protection of Minors (SOM).
The aim of the document is to ensure a safe environment for all children, to protect their rights, to prevent abuse and to respond quickly to any danger signals. The standards cover all minors, including children with disabilities and special educational needs.
1. general principles
- Every child in the facilities has the right to respect for dignity, safety and privacy.
- All staff and colleagues have a duty to respond to any suspected child abuse.
- Persons hired to work with children are subject to criminal records checks and make relevant declarations.
- All employees familiarise themselves with this document, attend training courses and sign a statement of compliance with the Standards.
- The facilities are designated Juvenile Protection Standards Coordinatorwhich is responsible for implementing, monitoring and updating the rules.
2. employee-child relations
Allowed:
- being treated with respect and patience,
- an equal and fair approach,
- taking care of the child's safety and needs,
- supporting development and education,
- contact in accordance with the applicable rules and regulations of the facilities.
Banned:
- any form of physical, psychological or sexual violence,
- romantic or intimate relationships with children,
- private contact with the child outside the facility (telephone, internet, personal contact),
- photographing or recording children without parental/guardian consent,
- offering or allowing access to alcohol, cigarettes, drugs or other stimulants.
3 Protection procedures
- Identification of the minor
- At reception, the identity of the child and their guardian is established.
- If there are doubts about the carer's relationship with the child, the member of staff has a duty to take clarifying action.
- Suspected child abuse by an adult
- Reporting immediately to your supervisor and/or the SOM Coordinator,
- notifying the police and securing the child,
- documenting the event.
- Suspected abuse by an employee
- immediately separating the child from the suspect,
- notification to the SOM Coordinator,
- possible immediate suspension of the employee and notification of the relevant services.
- Suspected abuse by parent/guardian
- employee has a duty to intervene and call for assistance,
- Ensuring the child's care and safety until the appropriate services arrive.
4 Monitoring and evaluation
- The SOM Coordinator reviews the document every 2 years and proposes changes.
- Staff participate in training and anonymous evaluation surveys.
- The results of the evaluation are reported to the entrepreneur, who decides whether to update the document.
5 Final provisions
- This Standards for the Protection of Minors effective from 15 August 2024.
- The document is available at the reception of the Peacock Eye and Feather facilities and on the website.
- Every employee and collaborator is obliged to comply with the provisions of this document.
